A Father’s Journey from Tragedy to Advocacy

The path forward begins with remembering why the journey began.

I never wanted to write this book. Reliving the most horrific event of my life—and spending years researching a consumer product I knew nothing about—was the last thing I ever imagined doing. I wrote The Illusion of ATV Safety because I felt compelled to expose how dangerous ATVs can be to children. In any given year, children under 16 account for 20–30% of all ATV fatalities.

My journey began one year after my son's passing in November 2015, the darkest year of my life. Without the love of my family, the support of close friends, and my faith, I don't believe I would have made it through. During that time, I felt the power of prayer and found comfort in Psalm 23:4:

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

By the grace of the Holy Spirit, I found the strength not only to endure my loss but also to seek answers.

Today, I feel compelled to share my family's story, together with the research I uncovered, in the hope that other families will never have to experience the devastating loss of a child on an all-terrain vehicle.
