Why Safety by Design and Common-Sense Laws Matter
ATV engineering should start with safety by Design. Child safety on ATVs should include common sense Laws. If both are missing, children get injured—or worse yet, fatally injured.
The Staggering Cost of Inaction
These are not rare or isolated incidents; they are an ongoing public health crisis. According to the CPSC, children under the age of 16 account for about 100 deaths and over 25,000 emergency room visits every single year from off-highway vehicle accidents. What makes these numbers truly staggering is that more than 90% of these pediatric casualties occur while a child is operating an adult-sized vehicle—a massive machine they simply do not have the physical strength or developmental maturity to control. Furthermore, over 80% of children under 16 that were fatality injured, were not wearing a helmet.
